We Thank Thee, Our Creator.

"And albeit we be but worms and dust, yet thou art our Creator, and we be the work of thine hands: yea, thou art our Father, and we are thy Children: thou art our Shepherd, and we thy flock: thou art our Redeemer, and we thy people whom thou hast bought: thou art our God, and we thine inheritance. Correct us not therefore in thine anger (O Lord) neither according to our deserts punish us, but mercifully chastise us with a fatherly affection, that all the world may know at what time soever a sinner doth repent him of his sin from the bottom of his heart, thou wilt put away all his wickedness out of thy remembrance, as thou hast promised by thy holy Prophet."
~Excerpt from "Evening Prayer." 1599 Geneva Bible Tolle Lege Press
This is the reality of the universe.  We are helpless and hopeless without God as our Saviour.  Left to myself, I would be off carousing today, enjoying meaningless comforts at the cost of my eternal soul.  Choose God? Nay.  I would never do such a thing.  'Tis a hard path, and deadly (Romans 6:6).  Why wait to have dessert when you can just have it now? (Hint: read more of Romans 6)

But God, in His lovingkindness, gives me, day by day, a love for Him that says, "Trust Me." And I, leaning upon my beloved, do as he says, for what do the Scriptures say?
How can a young man keep his way pure?
By guarding it according to your word.
~Psalm 119:9 ESV
Therefore, I am spending the day with my family and my church body, and we will come to God in reverence, in repentance, in thankfulness for his greatness, and to glorify Him always.
Thank you Lord for repentance, and that I am not in control but you are.  Happy Thanksgiving to all.
